Los Portales de Santa Fe is a secluded paradise located in the heart of the beautiful La Cueva Valley. Los Portales Hacienda is a harmonious blend of Pueblo, Northern New Mexico, Territorial, and Rocky Mountain architectural styles. This beautifully appointed dwelling is furnished with primitive antiques and Asian rugs. The decor beckons you with its warm, welcoming space.
The main building sleeps six to eight guests. The master suite includes a four-poster, pine, king-size bed, and a master bath with over-sized tub and separate shower. A second bedroom houses a graceful, iron, queen-size bed and windows caressed with Dupioni silk. The third bedroom charms you with its pair of knotted iron twin beds. The home accommodates the avid reader with a library full of local flavor; including maps, books, and information about Northern New Mexico's rich culture and history. The library also boasts a sizable sofa, which can easily be converted to comfortably sleep two additional guests. The second bath is conveniently located adjacent to the bedrooms and library.
The cozy living space is complete with comfortable seating, a 1918 Wurlitzer
baby grand piano, and a wood-burning stove. The dining area glows with candlelit
chandeliers over the traditional New Mexican dining table (seats eight). The
modern, fully equipped kitchen includes a cheerful breakfast nook, and a separate
laundry area.
This gorgeous hacienda is surrounded by a walled garden, and bedecked by a majestic, log portal. The portal views west over the property where the meadows of wild flowers sway softly beneath the Rocky Mountain Cedar, Juniper, Ponderosa Pine, and Gambles Oak. Meandering through the midst of all this is the beautiful La Cueva Creek, which flows surrounded by Willows and Narrow Leaf Cottonwoods. Summer shade and dazzling fall color are an inviting feast for the senses. Let the feast continue as this beyond generous portal is ideal for outdoor dining and entertaining.
Beyond the porches is a ranchita that seems a world unto itself. The barn and
paddock area house three American Quarter Horses. Throughout the entire property,
the landscape continues to fascinate and captivate the senses with wildlife and
rustic beauty. Cover a short one-mile trail from the back door and realize the
unlimited possibilities of having the Santa Fe National Forest and Pecos Wilderness
